These events provide a space for cosplayers to showcase their work, meet fellow fans, have photoshoots, and participate in competitions called ‘masquerades’. In recent years, the film industry has fully embraced the cosplay community, recognizing it as a powerful form of fan engagement and organic marketing. Studios often hire high-profile cosplayers to appear at movie premieres and promotional events, and the work of top-tier cosplayers is frequently celebrated on official social media channels.
