Rüdiger Vogler: Movies & Box Office

Rüdiger Vogler (born 14 May 1942 in Warthausen, near Biberach an der Riss) is a well-known German film and stage actor. His acting career took off when he attended acting school in Heidelberg from 1963 to 1965. Post his education, Vogler spent six years at the Theater am Turm in Frankfurt am Main, performing often in plays by Peter Handke. Vogler entered the world of cinema with his debut in a TV film Chronik der laufenden Ereignisse (Chronicle of Current Events) by Peter Handke in 1971. However, his more substantial film career began with The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty and Alice in the Cities, both directed by the reputable Wim Wenders. This marked the start of a nearly twenty-year long creative partnership between Vogler and Wenders. Vogler also made appearances in various German TV series like Tatort, Derrick, and Der Alte. Currently, Vogler resides in Paris and in Mittelbuch near Biberach an der Riss. Vogler is recognized significantly for his collaborations with director Wim Wenders. In most of their films, Vogler's character's surname is Winter. His character's occupation often changes from film to film. Some of these films include Alice in the Cities, Kings of the Road, Until the End of the World, Faraway, So Close!, and Lisbon Story. The character of Wilhelm he played in The Wrong Move, is a distinct departure where not only does the surname change but he also plays the role of a film technician.
