The premise of Promising the Moon without spoilers.
After years of emotional distance, Marga finally reveals fear, lingering wounds and a deep longing for her late husband Juris. Increasingly forgetful, she suddenly seeks childlike tenderness, leaving daughter Sofia to become her caretaker. Sofia realizes her mother’s past shapes her own identity and hastens a trip to Riga—Marga’s hometown and the place she married Juris—where each revelation further destabilizes Sofia’s sense of self.
