Anna Göldi, a Sennwald native, moved to Glarus in 1765 and worked as maid for Johann Jakob Tschudi. He accused her of placing needles in his daughter’s bread and milk. Captured after a February 1782 reward, she was tortured, confessed to a pact with the Devil, withdrew it, and June 18 1782 was sentenced to decapitation for poisoning, not witchcraft.
