In the land of Dagonaut, a young squire Tiuri and four other hopefuls spend their last night in the chapel before knighthood, a tense, silent vigil where they are tested by rules that forbid conversation, sleep, or meals. Piak slips into the river by accident, and Tiuri’s quick rescue saves his companion from drowning. When guards finally intercept them, the ring again serves as a proof of their mission, allowing Tiuri to justify his purpose and continue toward the final leg of his voyage.
