Who Is Johnny Knoxville?

Johnny Knoxville, born as Philip John Clapp on March 11, 1971, is notably recognized as a co-creator and star of the MTV reality stunt show Jackass (2000–2001) and its subsequent films. Prior to his onset fame, Knoxville had an avid interest in acting, credited to his cousin, singer-songwriter Roger Alan Wade, who introduced him to Jack Kerouac's book On the Road. After graduating high school, he moved to California to pursue acting, beginning with commercials and extra roles. However, his breakthrough came when he decided to create his own opportunities by writing and pitching article ideas to various magazines. His idea of testing self-defense equipment on himself intrigued Jeff Tremaine's skateboarding magazine Big Brother, giving birth to the stunts seen on Jackass.
Beyond Jackass, Knoxville has acted in films like Men in Black II (2002), A Dirty Shame, and Walking Tall (both 2004). He has contributed to animation by voicing Leonardo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and guest-starred in 'Extreme Spots', a 2012 episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. Knoxville runs a production company, Dickhouse Productions, with Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze of the Jackass franchise and launched 'Hello Junior’, another production company, in 2014. In addition to his entertainment ventures, Knoxville has a rather expansive engagement with WWE, seen firstly in the 2008 episode of Raw. Personalizing his career, Knoxville started a podcast called 'Pretty Sure I Can Fly with Johnny Knoxville & Elna Baker' in 2024.
