James Jude Courtney: Movies & Box Office

James Jude Courtney, born January 31, 1957, is an American actor, stunt double, and stunt performer. He is best known for his breathtaking performance as the fictional mass murderer Michael Myers in the 2018 film Halloween and its two notable sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. Courtney also made a significant tv appearance as Der Kindestod in the widely celebrated Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode known as 'Killed by Death'. He was born in Garfield Heights, Ohio and grew up in Columbia, South Carolina where he was the eldest of seven brothers. From a young age, he expressed an ardent interest in acting and created short films from as early as fifth grade. With journalism degree from the University of South Carolina, Courtney moved to California, to the land of dreams and opportunities, to fully delve into his acting ambitions. His career took its notable turn when he started working at Universal Studios Hollywood as a tour guide before landing a role as Conan in the park's 'Conan the Barbarian' live show. He sustained numerous injuries during performances due to high falls and sword fights, the demands of the role. With acting studies from the coveted Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and teachings from Stella Adler, Courtney made his film acting debut in 1989 in 'The Freeway Maniac'. His role of Der Kindestod in Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode 'Killed by Death' in 1997, elevated his recognition. Courtney holds the honor of being the actor who has performed Myers the most times, with his portrayal getting recognition in 2018's Halloween when October 19, the film's United States opening day, was officially proclaimed James Jude Courtney Day in Warren County, Kentucky.
