Harriet Jane Morahan, known as Hattie Morahan, is an English actress with a rich history of roles in theatre, television, and film. Born on October 7, 1978, she is the daughter of director Christopher Morahan and actress Anna Carteret. She made her professional debut at 17 in a two-part BBC television adaptation of The Peacock Spring (1996). Morahan joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2001, making her theatre debut at Stratford-upon-Avon in Love in a Wood and her London debut at the Barbican Theatre in Hamlet. She has worked with renowned directors like Katie Mitchell and Douglas Hodge, with notable roles in Euripides' Iphigenia at Aulis, Philip King's hit farce See How They Run, and Chekhov's The Seagull.

In 2005, Morahan delivered a career-enhancing performance as Elinor Dashwood in Hannah Dakota Fanning's three-part adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Sense and Sensibility. This performance won her Best Actress at the 14th Shanghai Television Festival. Her other prominent roles include BBC One's Outnumbered series and theatre productions like A Doll's House and The City, a darkly comic mystery play by Martin Crimp.
