Spoilers ahead
Long ago in a mystical French kingdom, there existed a self-indulgent Prince, portrayed by Dan Stevens, who resided in a grand castle filled with opulence and extravagant parties for his royal subjects. One fateful night, an old beggar woman approached the castle, offering the Prince a beautiful rose in exchange for refuge from the chilling cold. The Prince, along with his guests, scoffed at her offer and ridiculed her appearance, ignoring her caution that true beauty lies beyond the surface. After being turned away again, the old woman’s true identity as a Enchantress was revealed, and through her magic, the Prince was cursed to become a hideous Beast.
