Spoilers ahead
In this enchanting tale presented through the artistry of stained glass windows, the story begins with an old beggar woman who arrives at a French prince’s castle, seeking refuge from the biting cold. In a gesture of goodwill, she offers him a beautiful rose, yet the prince, appalled by her disheveled appearance, cruelly turns her away. Undeterred, the beggar reminds him of the dangers of judging by appearances, but the prince, set in his ways, slams the door shut. In a stunning turn of events, she reveals her true form as a beautiful enchantress. Despite his attempts to apologize, she has already divined the darkness within his heart and casts a powerful curse upon him: transforming him into a grotesque beast and his loyal servants into anthropomorphic objects.
