A spoiled and self-centered Prince dwelled in a lavish castle during a bygone era in a French Kingdom. He delighted in grand parties hosted for his subjects, yet his arrogance knew no bounds. One fateful night, during a debutante ball in Rococo-era France, an enchanted rose was offered to him by an old beggar woman, who was in reality an enchantress. The Prince, portrayed by Dan Stevens, dismissed her request for shelter from a storm, revealing the deep lack of compassion in his heart.

In an instant, the old woman’s true beauty emerged, but it was too late. She had seen all she needed to see and, feeling disrespected, cast a spell on him. This curse transformed the Prince into a Beast, a reflection of his cruel nature, while his servants became inanimate objects, and his castle vanished from the villagers’ memories. To aid him, she left a magic mirror that revealed distant events and an enchanted rose that would determine his fate. The Prince was given the challenge to learn to love another and to earn that love in return before the last petal fell from the rose, or else he would remain a beast forever, leaving his dear servants without their human essence.

Among the enchanted servants were Lumiere, a charming Bouteiller played by Ewan McGregor; Maestro Cadenza, a neurotic court composer portrayed by Stanley Tucci who had been transformed into a harpsichord; Cogsworth, the Beast’s loyal majordomo turned mantel clock portrayed by Ian McKellen; and Mrs. Potts, the nurturing head housekeeper now a teapot, played by Emma Thompson. Other characters like Madame De Garderobe (Audra McDonald), a world-renowned opera singer turned wardrobe, and the spirited little Chip (Nathan Mack), who had become a teacup, added to the ensemble that hoped for their curse to be broken.

Years passed, and in the quaint village of Villeneuve during the 1780s, lived a spirited young woman named Belle, played by Emma Watson, alongside her eccentric father, Maurice (Kevin Kline), an inventor and tinkerer. Belle’s life took a turn when the self-absorbed local hero, Gaston (Luke Evans), sought her hand in marriage. Despite his persistent advances, Belle was repulsed by his vanity and refused to entertain him.

One day, as Maurice set out to market his creations, he was brutally attacked by wolves while navigating the treacherous forest. Straying into the forsaken castle grounds, he stumbled upon the enchanted realm, startling when a young boy turned into a teacup approached him. Panic-stricken, Maurice fled but was ensnared by the Beast after trying to pick a rose to bring back home for Belle, leading to his imprisonment.

Realizing her father was in danger, Belle bravely ventured into the woods, discovering him held captive within the castle walls. In a bold act of sacrifice, she offered to take her father’s place as the Beast’s prisoner. As Belle adjusted to castle life, she formed bonds with the enchanted servants, with Lumiere guiding her and Madame De Garderobe conspiring to help Belle escape her ghastly situation.

The tension heightened as the Beast confronted Belle with gruffness. But when Belle accidentally witnessed the enchanted rose, the tension escalated. After a while, a complex friendship blossomed when Belle tended to the Beast’s injuries after he saved her from a ferocious pack of wolves. The castle’s atmosphere shifted as Belle unearthed the curse’s background; she learned from Mrs. Potts, who shared tales of the once-kind Prince, revealing how a tragic upbringing shaped his callous attitude.

With each day, feelings grew stronger between Belle and the Beast, leading him to share his extensive library. They ultimately used the gift from the enchantress—a magical book—to revisit Belle’s cherished childhood home in Paris. Simultaneously, Maurice, believing Belle was in danger, sought help in Villeneuve, but found himself entangled in Gaston’s manipulations.

Hastily, Gaston had Maurice declared insane and tried to claim Belle for himself, yet she inadvertently proved her father’s sanity using the magic mirror. Enraged, Gaston rallied a mob to slay the Beast, leading to a climactic confrontation.

The extraordinary battle unfolded as the Beast was initially reluctant to fight back. However, when Belle returned, the Beast’s spirit ignited anew. As troubles culminated, Gaston, driven by anger, met a tragic fate. But alas, as the last petal from the enchanted rose fell, the Beast succumbed to his injuries, plunging into eternal darkness as his beloved servants transformed completely into their inanimate forms.

In the midst of despair, Belle professed her love, which awakened the enchantress, [Agathe](Hattie Morahan), allowing her to reverse the curse. With a wave of her hand, the enchantment lifted, restoring the Prince’s human form and granting the castle’s inhabitants their humanity once again. Villagers soon remembered their former friends, including Mrs. Potts with her husband and Cogsworth with his wife.

Ultimately, Belle and the restored Prince celebrated their newfound love and happiness by hosting a grand ball, showcasing their unity and reigniting hope and joy within the kingdom, forever reminding all that true love transcends all curses.
