Christophe Gans is a French filmmaker born on 11 March 1960 in Antibes, France, whose career has spanned over four decades and includes work as a film director, producer, and screenwriter. After graduating from the prestigious Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC) in the early 1980s, Gans founded the Starfix magazine and quickly moved to California, where he worked unofficially as a journalist and landed a cameo role in the anthology film Necronomicon (1993). His early directorial efforts include the 1995 adaptation of Crying Freeman, which showcased his emerging interest in blending graphic novel aesthetics with live‑action storytelling.
