Leslie Richard 'Arliss' Howard (born October 18, 1954) is an acclaimed American actor, screenwriter, and film director. He is recognized for his impactful roles in various films, including iconic hits like 'Full Metal Jacket' (1987), 'Tequila Sunrise' (1988), 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' (1997), 'The Time Traveler's Wife' (2009), 'Moneyball' (2011), and most recently, 'Mank' (2020). Arliss was born and raised in Independence, Missouri and graduated with an English Literature degree from Columbia College. Prior to venturing into the world of acting, his wide array of experiences included working in the Wyoming oil industry, on a New Mexico ranch, and living in Hawaii.

Throughout his career, Arliss has carved out a name for himself with celebrated performances in films such as 'Men Don't Leave', 'Ruby', and 'Natural Born Killers'. He received nominations for two CableACE Awards for his inspiring roles in television movies-'Somebody Has to Shoot the Picture' and 'The Man Who Captured Eichmann', winning for the former. Howard's noteworthy roles extend to playing Peter Ludlow in 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' and U.S. Vice President John C. Calhoun in 'Amistad', both directed by the renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Beyond acting, Howard directed episodes of the CBS drama series 'Medium', as well as his own films, 'Big Bad Love' and 'Dawn Anna', with his wife, Debra Winger.
