What Is The Woman in the Hall About?
The premise of The Woman in the Hall without spoilers.
Jean Simmons plays Jay, one of two daughters of widowed Lorna Blake (Ursula Jeans). Lorna scrapes a living by sending her girls to wealthy homes, pleading for aid. When Sir Halmar Bernard (Cecil Parker) proposes, she lies, claiming only daughter Molly (Jill Freud) exists. After Jay is jailed for forging a cheque, Lorna refuses to help.
