During the Civil War in Wyoming, horse dealers Joan Britton and Stephen Cook vie to supply the Union army with horses. A Cherokee agitates the Sioux, and Cook steals a Sioux herd, provoking Chief Red Cloud’s war‑band. Ex‑army doctor Jonathan Westgate opposes Cook’s tactics, competes for Joan’s affection, and can avert an Indian conflict.
