The Captivating Star of Happiness (1975): Cast & Plot

Set in the wake of the Decembrist revolt of 1825, the story unfolds across a country-wide crackdown, tense investigations, and the heavy cost paid by those who challenged the throne. The rebellion is crushed, five Decembrists are executed, and several officers are condemned to exile in Siberia. Their wives—the Decembrists’ women, known as Dekabristki—face a wrenching choice: cling to the comforts of their former lives or join their husbands on a perilous voyage into exile, where loyalty, courage, and love will be tested in ways they could not have imagined. The film paints a quiet, human portrait of the consequences that ripple outward from a failed political dream, showing how ordinary people find extraordinary strength when history calls them to choose.
