Retired school teacher Eloise Parker (Phylicia Rashad) lives a solitary life in her home, accompanied only by her tenant Adam Clay (Jason Statham), who enjoys a peaceful existence as a beekeeper. Tragedy strikes when Eloise becomes a victim of a phishing scam that embezzles $2 million from a charity fund she oversees, leading to her devastating decision to take her own life. Upon discovering her lifeless body, Adam is immediately arrested by Agent Verona Parker (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Eloise’s own daughter. After being exonerated and released, Adam learns from Verona that the FBI is aware of the criminal organization behind the scam, though tracking them is no easy feat.
Driven by a desire for justice for Eloise, Adam reaches out to the Beekeepers, an enigmatic group, to pursue those responsible for her death. His search leads him to a call center controlled by Mickey Garnett (David Witts). In a display of wrath, Adam intimidates the employees and sets fire to the building, prompting Mickey to alert his boss, Derek Danforth (Josh Hutcherson). Derek, a tech executive, instructs Mickey to eliminate the threat posed by Adam. This sets off a violent clash in which Adam vanquishes Mickey’s associates and disfigures him by severing his fingers.
As Mickey reports to Derek about Adam being a Beekeeper, a fierce showdown ensues: Adam drags Mickey off a bridge to his demise, issuing a stern warning to Derek that he is coming for him. In response, Derek consults Wallace Westwyld (Jeremy Irons), a former CIA director now overseeing security at his company due to the influence of Derek’s mother, Jessica Danforth (Jemma Redgrave). Concerned for their safety, Wallace reaches out to the current CIA director, Janet Harward (Minnie Driver), to strategize against Adam.
When Adam eliminates the latest Beekeeper, Anisette (Megan Le), sent to assassinate him, the organization declares their neutrality. Verona and her partner Matt Wiley (Bobby Naderi) predict that Adam might target the Nine Star United Center in Boston, which supervises all of Derek’s global scam call centers. Upon revealing Adam’s affiliation with the Beekeepers to FBI Deputy Director Jackson Prigg (Don Gilet), they secure extensive federal backing.
In a tactical move, Wallace assembles a contingent of ex-special forces to monitor the Nine Star Building’s interior while the FBI surrounds its perimeter. As Derek fails to evacuate employees, Adam swiftly overpowers the SWAT team and breaches the premises, culminating in a confrontation with Rico Anzalone (Enzo Cilenti), the building’s manager, who inadvertently reveals Derek’s involvement.
Verona alerts Jackson to the critical fact that Derek operates both the scam call centers and is the target of Adam’s vengeance. Tensions escalate as Adam evades capture, prompting Wallace to advise Derek to remain with his mother amidst Secret Service protection measures.
In an intense showdown at Jessica’s coastal estate, Wallace recruits mercenaries, including Lazarus (Taylor James), who harbors a vendetta against the Beekeepers. As Adam infiltrates the mansion, Jessica learns of her son’s illicit activities from Jackson. In the chaos, Adam dispatches the mercenaries, closing in on Jessica’s office at the mansion. Determined to expose Derek’s wrongdoings, Jessica asserts her intention to reveal the truth, inciting Derek’s rage, which leads him to murder Jackson and take his mother hostage.
In a final twist, while attempting to persuade Adam to reconsider, Wallace fails when Adam snaps his finger in a moment of desperation. Despite the escalating tension, Adam ultimately confronts Jessica, becoming entangled with Verona, Matt, and a cohort of FBI agents. In a gripping climax, as Derek turns against his mother, Adam makes a decisive move, eliminating Derek before escaping through a window onto the beach. With a clear shot at Adam, Verona faces an agonizing choice and ultimately decides against pulling the trigger as he escapes, equipped with a hidden underwater apparatus.
