Set in Saigon in 1974, British bank assistant manager Barbara Dean (Judi Dench) begins a romance with American expatriate Bob Chesneau (Frederic Forrest). As their relationship deepens, Barbara discovers Bob is a CIA operative who warns her that the imminent fall of South Vietnam is only days away, thrusting their personal lives into the turmoil of the war’s final chapter.
