What Is Racist Trees About?
The premise of Racist Trees without spoilers.
To change the present, sometimes you have to uproot the past. Can a tree be racist? A few years ago the debate reached Fox News, centered on a row of tamarisk trees lining a massive Palm Springs golf course that shielded the historic Black neighborhood of Crossley Tract. Named for founder Lawrence Crossley—one of the first Black settlers in this largely white tourist haven built on indigenous land over a century ago—the film explores how the trees symbolize lingering racial barriers.
