Devarmadom Narayanan, Mammootty, returns to Perumalpuram after serving time in a juvenile home for the accusation that haunted him since age 13—a charge tied to killing his father while his mother endured cruelty. He steps back into public life with a quiet resolve, quickly emerging as a strong-eyed leader who aims to purge the village of wrongdoers by expelling them, restoring a fragile order to the community.

His most stubborn opponents are his uncle, Muppil Kunjambu Nair, Siddique, and his wife, Indrani, Seema. The tension between Narayanan and this pair runs deep: Kunjambu had despised Narayanan for the past tragedy, while both he and his eldest son, Giri, repeatedly plot to undermine Narayanan’s authority. Giri, a persistent thorn in Narayanan’s side, nearly succeeds in a deadly confrontation, but Narayanan’s measured composure keeps him from reacting in kind. Narayanan also maintains a quiet, complex bond with Kunjambu’s daughter and his murapennu, a detail that hints at a deeper kinship beneath the surface conflict.

When Giri’s schemes escalate, he moves to sell land in Perumalpuram to an outsider, a plan Narayanan recognizes would fracture the village’s delicate harmony. This realization steels Narayanan’s decision to act, setting the stage for a dramatic unraveling of loyalties. The plot twists reveal a painful truth: Kunjambu was the true killer of his own father, driven by wealth. In a consequential turn, Narayanan helps Ali Raghavan, Sreenivasan, the real son of Kunjambu, to claim his rightful birthright, complicating the web of family ties even further.

As the layers unfold, Giri discovers that he is actually Kunjambu’s stepson, a revelation that fuels his jealousy and rage. In a brutal response, he kills Kunjambu, and the family, with Narayanan’s assistance, drives Giri away from their home. The rest of the film traces whether Giri will press his vengeance against Narayanan and how that vendetta will play out. In the climactic confrontation, Narayanan defeats Giri in combat, but the tragedy doesn’t end there: Kumaran, Maniyanpilla Raju, lands a fatal blow to Giri, bringing the tale to a heartrending, unforeseen close.
