Spoilers ahead
The Burnford-Seaver family, proud owners of Shadow the Golden Retriever, Ralph Waite as Shadow (voice); Sassy the Himalayan cat, Sally Field as Sassy (voice); and Chance the American Bulldog, Michael J. Fox as Chance (voice), heads north for a family vacation to Canada and decides to bring their three pets along for the journey. At the bustling San Francisco International Airport, chaos erupts when Chance panics, mistaking airport workers for the pound staff he fears. This misunderstanding follows a tense moment that had previously upset Jamie Seaver, Kevin Chevalia as Jamie, pushing Chance to believe he’s being sent back.
