Following this episode, the trio regroups and shifts gears, pooling their resources to invest in a propeller boat, funded by trading in their car. The plan looks promising, but the new vessel soon proves faulty, starting to take on water and leaving them stranded in the open sea. With their options dwindling, they clamber into a spare dinghy and scramble to signal potential rescuers, whipping up a distress signal from a white rag with a bold red splash. What begins as a hopeful plea for help spirals into a comic hazard when the signal bears an uncanny resemblance to the flag of Japan, drawing the attention of overhead bombers who mistake them for Japanese sailors.

In a frantic bid to survive, Moe devises a frantic plan to escape the attack. He ingeniously rigs a makeshift motor using a propeller and Curly’s victrola, creating a quick, improvised propulsion system. The Stooges surge away from the danger as the planes buzz overhead, turning a perilous moment into a raucous, resilient sprint for freedom. Through it all, their persistence, slapstick ingenuity, and willingness to take daring risks keep the action moving and the laughs coming, leaving the audience with a wild—but ultimately triumphant—comedic chase at sea.
