Shivering Sherlocks 1948

The Stooges are mistakenly identified as the perpetrators in an armored-car robbery. Following a lie detector test administered by Captain Mullins, they are cleared of suspicion and placed under protective custody, under the care of Gladys Harmon, the proprietor of the Elite Café, who provides them with an alibi. In return, the Stooges attempt to reciprocate by working at the café, navigating a series of humorous challenges and misadventures as they try to prove their innocence and help out at the busy establishment.

When she learns of her inheritance, Gladys Harmon enlists the Stooges to accompany her to inspect her newly acquired mansion. Unbeknownst to them, the mansion serves as a hideout for the actual criminals involved in the armored-car robbery, including Lefty Loomis, Red Watkins, and their accomplice, Angel. Amid a momentary distraction, Gladys is abducted by the criminals, leaving the Stooges puzzled and pressed to uncover what happened.

As the Stooges begin a careful search for Gladys within the mansion, she discovers herself bound and gagged in a storeroom. A tense confrontation with Angel unfolds, but is interrupted by the Stooges’ timely arrival. A pursuit erupts through hidden corridors and cluttered spaces, and Shemp successfully immobilizes the criminals in barrels, leading to their arrest. Gladys, having freed herself, watches the dramatic turn of events with relief and a renewed sense of safety.
