In London, Larry, Moe, and Shemp arrive with dreams of joining Scotland Yard after completing a correspondence detective course. Their hopes, however, are quickly clipped as they’re relegated to menial duties—the dreaded “Yard Men”—scrubbing, tidying, and tending the grounds. Yet it’s amid these routine chores that a real chance to prove themselves quietly flickers to life, offering a path to adventure that they hadn’t anticipated.

Disguised in kilts and speaking in cleverly forged Scottish accents, the trio heads to Scotland under the aliases McMoe, McLarry, and McShemp, taking on the task of safeguarding the Earl’s prized possessions at Glenheather Castle. The assignment places them under the watchful eye of The Earl, but the castle staff are secretly in on a plot to pilfer its treasures, using the Stooges’ presence as a convenient cover while they snooze within the castle walls.

The Stooges’ watchful slumber is broken when they uncover the scheme and begin to close in on the culprits. The mastermind behind the operation is Lorna Doone, who presents herself as the Earl’s secretary and coordinates the clandestine theft from behind a veil of propriety. The trio’s persistence and comic missteps collide with the staff’s scheme, leading to a tense capture of the criminals and a triumph that lands with a satisfying snap of justice.

But triumph in this tale comes with a strange, eerie twist. Amid their moments of relief and celebration, the Stooges encounter a bagpipe-playing skeletal apparition, a supernatural sign that unsettles the castle and compels them to flee its halls. The night air echoes with a mix of victory and mystery, leaving the trio to reflect on their near-missed opportunity and the odd, haunting finale that caps their adventure at Glenheather Castle.
