Paradise for Buster 1952

Bookkeeper Buster Keaton works for a company in the big city when he inherits a rural farm from his uncle Burr McKeaton, a change that lets him quit his job and start anew. The setup highlights the clash between urban hustle and country life, and it carries the familiar rhythm of Keaton’s silent-era comedy with city sight gags—ink spraying across desks, trays smashing, and doors crashing—before the tale fully pivots toward his new homestead.

Arriving at the rundown estate, he finds a piggy bank tucked beneath Burr McKeaton’s portrait. In a bid to break it open, [Buster Keaton] winds up burning down the farm. He then explores the rest of the “estate” and, while trying to fix a water stream, gets caught in a windmill.

Disconsolate, he contemplates ending it all by tying a rock and rope around his neck and jumping off a pier into a lake on the property, but the sight of a lake full of jumping trout persuades him to fish instead.

Many sight gags follow as he tries to catch a fish. A passerby, Harold Goodwin, offers him two dollars to fish in his lake.

An idea has sprouted and we next see him collecting money (inserting it into many different sized piggybanks) from the city folk who arrive to pay admission to his Fisherman’s Paradise - Buster Keaton, Prop.
