The film opens on a sunlit beach where a baby takes his first tentative steps, with a father close by to steady him. The narration lingers on a provocative question: it may be natural for a father to support a child in infancy, but should that same guiding hand continue to be needed when the child grows into a twenty-four-year-old man? In this moment, the young man Sidhu [Hiran Chatterjee] begins to vent his anger at “all the fathers in the world,” arguing that his father, Arvind [Sabyasachi Chakraborty], has given him more than he asks for and has controlled every little detail—his clothes, his hair, and many other choices.
