In Dubai, a cop named Ruby Kasturi Shankar interrogates a pensioner, who then narrates the sprawling, violent life of Michael Silambarasan. In 1992, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Michael Silambarasan is a notorious thug who works for a ruthless smuggler named Senthamarai and carries out killings for money, with his loyal sidekicks Somu Vtv Ganesh and Sabi Mahat Raghavendra always by his side. Michael falls for Selvi, a girl from his town, and she initially rejects him but later reciprocates; Selvi Shriya Saran represents a rare ember of humanity in his brutal orbit. She urges him to quit the gangster life and relocate to Dubai to start anew; Michael, guarded but hopeful, half-heartedly agrees. However, an enemy from the same gang betrays him by turning informer on a string of murders Michael committed, and the man ends up behind bars.
Michael escapes prison with help from his friends and learns that Selvi is set to marry a man chosen by her parents. Realizing the price of a life on the run, he leaves Selvi and migrates to Dubai, where he rebuilds himself as a feared, powerful gangster. Back in Dubai, Sabi dies soon after recounting the story, leaving a somber epilogue to their shared world.
Detectives in Chennai, led by the calculating Ruby, piece together clues that Michael will be well over fifty and living a hidden life somewhere off the grid. They focus on Chennai and circulate his photo, hoping to draw him out. The revelation comes when Michael is found living luxuriously in Chennai under the alias Ashwin Thatha, a man who has wealth but no woman in his life.
Ashwin has money but longs for companionship, and he begins a search for a wife. While interviewing prospective brides, he falls for Ramya Tamannaah Bhatia, a warm-hearted younger woman whose father runs a retirement home. Ramya’s easy friendliness misleads Ashwin, who believes she returns his affection, only to learn that she plans to marry someone closer to her own age. She introduces a younger man, Shiva—who resembles Ashwin—yet Shiva lives in the United States with an ongoing long-distance relationship with Ramya.
Heartbreak and pent-up anger push Ashwin toward drastic actions. He drinks more, grows volatile, and ultimately kidnaps Shiva, hiring a top makeup artist to alter his own appearance so he can pass as Shiva and win Ramya back.
