Director Patrick Brice Teases 'Creep 3' Sequel Development
Director Patrick Brice confirmed that he and co-creator Mark Duplass are actively developing a third 'Creep' movie, describing their Shudder TV series 'The Creep Tapes' as an incubator for potential sequel ideas. Brice cited Sam Raimi's 'Army of Darkness' as a creative reference point, aiming for a sequel that justifies its existence while expanding the franchise in a surprising new direction.

Patrick Brice, the director behind the critically acclaimed ‘Creep’ film series, has provided a significant update on the long-awaited third installment. During an interview on the Slasher Radio podcast, Brice confirmed that he and co-creator Mark Duplass are actively working on ‘Creep 3,’ viewing their current Shudder TV series as a testing ground for the movie’s concepts.
Brice explained that the television series ‘The Creep Tapes,’ which premiered its second season on Shudder, is intrinsically linked to the film’s future. He revealed that some episodes of the show were originally conceived as potential ideas for ‘Creep 3.’ This model allows the creators to develop and refine concepts before committing to a full feature film. The primary goal for the next movie is to create a “defining statement” that both honors the existing franchise and takes it in an unexpected, explosive new direction.
For creative inspiration, Brice looks to successful third entries in other horror franchises, specifically naming Sam Raimi’s ‘Army of Darkness.’ He praised how Raimi’s film took established elements from the ‘Evil Dead’ series and transplanted them into a completely different genre and setting, creating a fresh and exciting experience. Brice aims to apply a similar philosophy to ‘Creep 3,’ challenging the formula while maintaining the core essence that made the first two films so successful.
The original ‘Creep’ (2015) and its 2017 sequel were major hits within the horror community, with the sequel achieving a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While Brice and Duplass are currently focused on producing the best version of ‘The Creep Tapes,’ the director left the door open for the possibility of working on the film sequel concurrently with the television series.
