Jason Isaacs, born on 6 June 1963, is renowned for his varied roles in both film and television. Making his mark as Colonel William Tavington in The Patriot (2000), Isaacs continued to impress with performances in Black Hawk Down (2001), the Harry Potter franchise series (2002–2011) as Lucius Malfoy, Peter Pan (2003), Battle of the Brave (2004), The Escorial Conspiracy (2007), The Death of Stalin (2017), and Operation Mincemeat (2021).

His TV roles are equally memorable. He also gained popularity for his portrayal of Dr. Hunter Aloysius 'Hap' Percy in the Netflix series The OA (2016–2019) and Captain Gabriel Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2018). His voice acting roles include Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) and Star Wars Rebels (2014–2016). His work has warranted numerous award nominations. Isaacs was born in Liverpool to Jewish parents and has reported that his Jewish identity played a substantial role in his youth. He spent his teenage years in London and dealt with antisemitism. After studying law at Bristol University, he attended London's Central School of Speech and Drama.
