Spoilers ahead
Dan Starkey, a Northern Irish columnist, and Charles Parker, an American journalist, are dispatched to cover the looming elections in a region scarred by decades of conflict. The race centers on the charismatic Michael Brinn, a former victim of the war who campaigns on disarmament and a dream of peace between the warring factions. Starkey remains skeptical, convinced that political promises often crumble once the cameras stop rolling, and he worries that Brinn’s rhetoric may be yet another chapter in a long line of empty assurances.
