What Is St. Ives About?

In 1813, Captain Jacques St. Ives, a dashing Hussar, is sent to a prison camp. Commander Major Chevening, smitten with Flora, asks Jacques for courting tips. Both vie for Flora, who lives with her aunt Miss Gilcrist. Jacques learns his relatives live nearby, prompting an escape to reunite his family and win Flora, while Chevening and a foe oppose him.
