What's After the Movie
Daryl Hannah, born on December 3, 1960, is an American actress and environmental activist. She made her film debut in Brian De Palma's supernatural horror film The Fury in 1978. Her extensive career includes roles in Ridley Scott's science fiction thriller Blade Runner, the romantic comedy Summer Lovers, the fantasy-romantic comedy Splash, and the drama Wall Street. In 2005, Hannah won a Saturn Award for her role as the one-eyed assassin Elle Driver in Quentin Tarantino's martial arts action film Kill Bill: Vol. 2. Hannah had long-term relationships with John F. Kennedy Jr. and musician Jackson Browne and is currently married to musician Neil Young. Her engagement in environmental activism is deeply rooted, having made her own weekly video blog on sustainable solutions. Hannah created two board games, has been vegetarian since age 11 and drives a car that runs on biodiesel.
Raised in Chicago, Hannah was born to a producer and school teacher mother and a tugboat and barge company owner father. As a child, she was diagnosed with autism and struggled in school. Despite these challenges, Hannah's passion for acting took hold at a young age due to insomnia. She studied ballet and acting at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Her career spans over several decades, including appearances in numerous films, TV series, and plays. Notable among her work in the new millenium, Hannah portrayed Angelica Turing in Netflix series Sense8. Haunted by allegations against Harvey Weinstein, she believed her career was sabotaged for refusing his advances. Despite these obstacles, her recent work includes a comedy series for The Roku Channel and a Grammy-nominated Music film.
