Alba Rohrwacher

**Alba Caterina Rohrwacher**, an Italian actress, was born on 27th February 1979 in Florence to a German father and an Italian mother. She initially pursued medicine from the age of 17 to 21 with an ambition to become a doctor. However, at 21, she decided to follow her passion for acting and moved to Rome to study at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Her journey in the world of acting started in 2004 with her first movie role in L'amore ritrovato. She gained recognition soon, winning the David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress in 2008. The following year, she received another David di Donatello, this time for Best Actress for her performance in Giovanna's Father. Her talent was also recognized at the international level, evident by the Shooting Stars Award she received at the Berlin International Film Festival 2009. Alba has often collaborated with her sister, director Alice Rohrwacher. In 2014, she played a role in The Wonders, a semi-autobiographical film directed by her sister. She won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the 71st Venice International Film Festival for her role in Hungry Hearts, a film by Italian director Saverio Costanzo. In 2016, she was part of the jury of the Berlinale, presided by Meryl Streep. She worked again with her sister in Happy as Lazzaro, premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Alba also provided the narration for the series My Brilliant Friend and, in its 4th season, took over the role of Elena. Her most recent appearance was in the 2022 documentary March on Rome, directed by Marc Cousins.
