For films with a highly anticipated score from a world-renowned composer like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Ludwig Göransson, or Hildur Guðnadóttir, the release of the soundtrack sampler is a significant marketing event in its own right. It provides the first opportunity for fans to hear the main musical themes and get a feel for the film’s emotional and atmospheric tone.

The sampler is usually distributed digitally through the studio’s or composer’s official YouTube channel and on music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. It is typically accompanied by the album’s official cover art, the full tracklist (sometimes with deliberately vague or redacted titles to avoid spoilers), and a link to pre-order the soundtrack.
