An 8K Vista Vision cinema camera with global shutter and advanced modular body

RED V-Raptor

Overview

The RED V-RAPTOR, launched in 2022, introduces RED’s new 8K Vista Vision sensor, supporting full 8K at 60 fps and 4K at 120 fps recording in a highly modular body. It features RED’s latest HELIUM 8K sensor with global shutter, ensuring precise motion rendering and rich dynamic range.

Sensor and Image Quality

The V-RAPTOR sensor captures over 17 stops of dynamic range, maintaining highlight retention and shadow detail. Its extended resolution and color depth make it ideal for feature film and high‑end episodic production.

Recording and Workflow

Recording to REDCODE RAW, the V-RAPTOR offers flexibility in post production, enabling high‑quality VFX workflows and efficient transcoding. Integrated with RED’s RCP and SDK, it supports real‑time metadata tracking and remote control.

Design and Ergonomics

Featuring RED’s DSMC3 form factor redesign, the V-RAPTOR offers improved heat management, a revised power module, and enhanced connectivity ports, including 12G‑SDI and Ethernet.

Trivia

  • The V-RAPTOR name references the “V” shape of the sensor optimized for Vista Vision lenses.
