The phrase is a direct evolution of the meme “Press F to Pay Respects.” While the original meme was born from an ironic mockery of a game’s clumsy attempt at sincerity, “F in the Chat” has evolved into a more versatile and often genuine expression.

In the context of film discussion, its usage is twofold:
