Boz, the ruthless leader of a psychotic gang, rules a brutal drug empire built around a powerful and addictive substance named Hype. His followers, the Hypers, are completely hooked on the product, and the night erupts into tragedy when Lucy leaps from a balcony after Boz drops a vial of Hype off it. The horror doesn’t end there—Lizard, Lucy’s younger sister, witnesses the carnage and, terrified by the chaos, steals Boz’s stash as she flees, hoping to keep herself alive. The city’s shadows seem to close in as the bar’s neon glow flickers, painting a picture of a world where survival hinges on wit, nerve, and the current of fear that runs through every choice.

Meanwhile, in a different corner of town, Fred Parras, a battle-scarred Army Veteran, reconnects with an old comrade, Abe Hawkins. The two head to Fred’s bar, a Veterans of Foreign Wars hangout, where they reunite with their former unit members: Walter Reed, Lou Clayton, Thomas Zabriski (affectionately known as “Z”), and Doug McCarthy. The mood is a bittersweet celebration of Fred’s birthday and a shared nostalgia for days of glory, even as a younger Army Ranger on leave, Shawn Mason, joins the gathering. Yet the atmosphere shifts quickly when Lizard enters the bar, forcing a collision between past camaraderie and present danger. Boz’s brother, Roadie, crashes into the room and brutally hacks off Doug’s arm with an ax, shattering the illusion of safety and plunging the group into near-panic.

The Veterans rally to defend themselves as Roadie and his crew close in, and a brutal firefight erupts. Fred Parras unleashes a decisive moment, killing Roadie with his sawed-off shotgun, a grim reminder of the violence these old soldiers still carry. The fight intensifies as Gutter, Boz’s right-hand woman, Gutter slices open Z’s neck with her machete, cutting the night’s celebration short and forcing the survivors to stagger toward the truck in a desperate bid for safety. Fred and Walter Reed scramble back to the truck, but Gutter’s relentless attack nearly ends them—she snakes up and begins strangling Fred with a chain, demanding him to “give it back!” He escapes by jamming the truck keys into her, severing the chokehold and driving back toward the bar.

Back at the sanctuary of the bar, Fred demands that Lizard tell the truth about what happened, but she remains stubbornly quiet, their tense exchange underscoring the rift between what they know and what they’re willing to reveal. The truth, when it comes, is heavy: Lou discovers the stolen stash hidden in a toilet tank and contemplates a deal with Boz to end the nightmare. Lizard insists that Boz will never grant mercy after Roadie’s death, and the only viable option becomes defending themselves rather than striking a deal.

What follows is a desperate, improvised defense. The Veterans fortify the bar with furniture and traps, calling back memories of jungle heat and improvised warfare as they prepare themselves for a siege by Boz’s Hypers, including the hulking Tank. The barricade is breached in a brutal, bloody assault, and the odds tilt toward collapse. Lou, pressed by the escalating danger, attempts a questionable bargain with Boz—only for Boz to shoot him, cutting his life short but not before Lou manages to take down more of Boz’s men in a last act of defiance.

The escalation turns personal as Fred, in pursuit of Lou, is shot in the leg by Boz. The weight of loss sits heavy on him: Abe succumbs to his injuries, and Doug dies from the blood loss he suffered in the earlier chaos. The sense of guilt gnaws at Fred, who sinks into a somber, whiskey-soaked numbness, until Lizard jolts him back to the reality that his surviving friends still need him. With renewed resolve, Fred, Shawn Mason, and the others vow to hold the line.

As dawn approaches, the battle reaches a fever pitch. The Hypers blow through the barricade one last time and demand the return of the product, offering a no-escape ultimatum. Fred refuses to yield, and with a defiant shot he sends a brick of Hype into the air. The inhaled drug drives Boz’s Hypers into a frenzy, turning them against their own leader and their would-be rescuers in a chaotic frenzy that shreds the room’s already fragile calm. Abe, ever the old-soldier, fights with a service machete, buying time for the others to escape. Walter, wielding a chainsaw, and Shaun push toward the Vet’s old Gun Truck, battle-scarred and bruised but unbroken, even as Walter takes a mortal wound to his shoulder.

In a brutal clash, Abe battles Gutter, and Fred finishes her off with a brutal double strike: a broken flag pole is rammed through her body and through her skull, ending that threat once and for all. Lizard, captured earlier by Boz’s force, is forced back toward Boz’s car, but Fred recovers his remaining ammunition and, with a decisive shot, kills Boz in the back, then detonates the backpack he had soaked with alcohol, setting it ablaze and enabling Lizard to slip away to safety. Walter, barely holding on, directs Shaun to escape and sacrifices himself by ramming the Gun Truck into Boz’s escape vehicle, the explosion mercifully ending both their lives and Boz’s regime.

When the dust settles, Fred, Shaun, and a spent Lizard return to the bar to find Abe waiting, his body unable to resist the injuries he sustained. The fallen veterans are honored with shots poured in their memory as Fred discovers a block of Hype hidden behind the counter—the same stash that Lizard had guarded and ultimately hid away to help Fred rebuild his bar. The moment is heavy with both sorrow and stubborn hope: the three drink in memory of their friends, and Shaun’s soft birthday wish to Fred marks a quiet, hard-won closure to a night filled with violence, loss, and the fragile possibility of starting anew.
