Two siblings, Betsy Lenaa and Bobin Aju Varghese, and their maternal uncle, Cherian K. B. Ganesh Kumar, run their family bakery in Ranni, a business their father Saajan built. Betsy is the backbone of the operation—hardworking, organized, and determined to keep the bakery steady even as family tensions simmer. Bobin, by contrast, drifts through life without taking responsibility seriously, chasing quick plans for an Australia-bound future and hoping to avoid the hard work that keeps the family business afloat. The tension between them brushes up against Betsy’s separation from her husband, Michael Sunder Ramu, a fact that adds personal strain to the already fragile balance at the shop. Betsy carries the burden with dignity, steering the bakery through busy days while Bobin pushes for a divorce or a quick reconciliation that never quite materializes.

Into this portrait of work and family steps Merin [Ranjitha Menon], a bright-eyed woman who works in a diagnostic lab and finds herself drawn to Bobin. She starts sending messages to the bakery’s number, a flirtatious line of curiosity that Betsy initially suspects comes from her estranged husband. The messages, playful but persistent, nudge Betsy into a warmer mood than she’s shown in years, and Bobin, sensing an opportunity to spur a reunion between Betsy and Michael, asks Merin to keep messaging. The situation becomes complicated quickly, as Betsy’s curiosity grows and her hope for a second chance with Michael intensifies. But the truth about the messages remains hidden for a while, and Betsy’s optimism deepens until reality intrudes.

The moment of truth comes when Betsy decides to meet Michael in Theni, hoping to mend what was broken. The encounter reveals a painful misread: the messages were not from Michael at all. Betsy feels humiliated and heartbroken, and she returns home in tears, with Michael offering quiet, practical advice to move forward rather than dwell on the past. The experience forces Betsy to confront what she really wants from life, a realization that pushes her to enroll in IELTS classes and to begin charting a new path for herself away from the bakery’s shadow.

Meanwhile, Bobin’s romance with Merin encounters its own set of complications. Merin’s past relationships, Bobin’s stubborn echoes of his father’s domineering traits, and a growing clash with Merin’s ultra-religious parents push the relationship toward a breaking point. Merin decides that pursuing a future with Bobin isn’t worth the strain, and she leaves for Bangalore to find space and perhaps start anew. The personal turbulence around Merin adds another layer of strain to an already fragile household.

On the business front, the bakery’s fortunes dip as well. Bobin asks a classmate to stock some of Saajan’s bakery favorites in their own shop, owned by Benjamin [Jaffer Idukki]. Benjamin asks for the famous cream buns, and Bobin, pressed for time, tries to rush a YouTube-inspired recipe. Facing pressure, he ends up buying buns from Benjamin’s shop to cover the shortfall, a move that tests his honesty and the family’s legacy. Benjamin insists on integrity, reminding Bobin of his father’s watchful, principled stance. In a moment of honesty, Betsy and Bobin repair some of the rift between them by working together: Betsy bakes the cream buns themselves, and Bobin delivers them to Benjamin, who agrees to carry Saajan bakery’s line again.

The ordeal becomes a catalyst for change. Bobin recognizes his faults and heads to Bangalore to try and reconcile with Merin, while Betsy takes the next step she’s been avoiding—she formalizes her divorce and plans a new future abroad. The story closes with Betsy preparing to migrate to the United Kingdom, seeking independence and a fresh start, and Bobin continuing to chase a better version of himself as he navigates his relationship with Merin in Bangalore.
