Fast forward to the present day, Maria wakes up beside her husband Bert and affectionately kisses him before checking in on their daughter, Min-Min. Meanwhile, Ricardo de la Vega is glued to a press conference featuring Governor Villanueva. A reporter queries about his anti-drug initiatives, prompting the governor to distance himself from Ricardo and pledge justice once he’s elected. This angers Ricardo, who shouts at the television, lamenting the position he’s been forced into. He retaliates by beating a traitor to death with a bat, while his female agents gun down two others.
