Green Room 2016

Four friends—Pat, Sam, Reece (Joe Cole), and Tiger (Callum Turner)—awaken in their van, part of the punk rock band The Ain’t Rights. After a night spent with the engine running, they need fuel. Pat and Sam take a bike ride to a nearby parking lot to siphon some gas to continue their journey.

Later, they meet with a man named Tad (David W. Thompson) for an interview regarding his radio show. During this conversation, he poses the question of what their “desert island band” would be. While the others quickly name their picks, Pat struggles to come up with an answer. After the interview, the band plays a gig, but their earnings are disappointingly low. Thankfully, Tad mentions a better-paying gig at a venue where his cousin works, leading them to a skinhead bar.

Upon arrival, they discover the venue has misspelled their band name as “The Arent Rights”. Their performance begins with a cover of the provocative song “Nazi Punks Fuck Off,” which creates an antagonistic atmosphere with the crowd. The situation does not improve with their next song.

Just as the band is set to leave with their pay, Sam realizes she left her phone in the green room, prompting Pat to retrieve it. What he finds, however, is a gruesome scene: two individuals, Werm (Brent Werzner) and Amber, are hovering over the lifeless body of Amber’s friend, Emily, a knife embedded in her head. In shock, Pat flees and calls 911. However, their escape is thwarted as two bouncers, Big Justin (Eric Edelstein) and Gabe (Macon Blair), corner Sam, Reece, and Tiger, confiscating their phones and holding them at gunpoint.

To cover up the scene, Gabe forces two young skinheads to stab each other as officers arrive. The club owner, Darcy, arrives and declares that the band must be dealt with. In a tense standoff, the band fights back, disarming Justin and trapping him in a chokehold. As they negotiate with Darcy, Pat remains distrustful, especially when Amber spots additional feet through the vent, indicating more trouble.

In a chaotic turn of events, Reece attempts to assault Darcy, causing injuries that lead to the band making a desperate, strategic retreat through the floorboards, only to uncover a bunker where skinheads run a heroin operation. With options running out, the group ties up Pat’s injuries and prepares for a final confrontation. Tragically, their plan leads to catastrophic losses; Tiger is killed by a pit bull while Reece is brutally stabbed.

Ultimately, Pat, Amber, and Sam find themselves cornered, leading to more adrenaline-fueled violence. Daniel, a local ally, attempts to assist them but falls victim to a skinhead’s bullet. Amid the chaos, Pat avenges Daniel’s death with a machete but loses Sam in the ensuing attack. Cornered and desperate, Pat and Amber strategize their survival.

When two skinheads enter the green room intent on killing them, a tense battle follows. Pat becomes deranged, fighting for control over a shotgun, while Amber cleverly uses the shadows to eliminate one of their attackers. As the chaos unfolds and bodies pile up, they confront Gabe, who expresses remorse for his actions. With tempers flaring, the two escape into the morning light with lingering questions and deep scars from the traumatic night.

Finally, they discover Darcy and his henchmen attempting to dispose of the dead bodies of their friends, even planning to blow up their van. In a final showdown, Pat and Amber confront them, taking out Darcy and his goons. As dawn breaks, they sit together, reflecting on the harrowing events, and Pat finally has a moment of clarity about his “desert island band.” Amber, however, bluntly replies to share that with someone who cares.
