Dan and Kat push for a temporary fishing ban to allow resources to respond to the crisis. Dr. Gorman from NORA denies the request and cuts funding, dismissing the possibility of a giant freshwater squid. Kat struggles with the setback, revealing she had seen the beast years earlier and hoping to prove its existence.

Pier attack and evidence gathered

The squid attacks Gunner and Jen on the pier, and Gunner chops off a tentacle to bring it to the bar as proof. The grisly evidence stiffens the town's resolve to act and accelerates the plan to hunt the creature. Tension rises as the community debates risk and leadership.

Plans to hunt the squid begin

Gunner, Jordy, and Spider prep the Freya for the hunt, insisting on going against Dan and Kat's group's plan. Dan and Kat join Will and his crew aboard the Wiiskachaan, intending to net the squid between the two vessels to disorient it. They rig chum lines and coordinate their approach.
