His repertoire spans several audacious schemes: he hawks supposedly exotic snakes to gullible buyers, claiming they’ll fetch crores on the international market; he promotes a fake multi-level marketing company with controversial chain referral schemes that allegedly promise a BMW within a year; he uses impersonation to pose as someone close to influential people, swaying others with forged connections; he sells grand tales of Lilliput, mystical stones, and artifacts; and he runs the infamous Emu scam, luring investors with the prospect of astronomical returns from Emu farms. Avani, an orphan from Chinna Waltair, arrives to work for him and slowly falls for his charm. Though Uttam can show a softer side, money always comes first, and eventually he abandons her.

Roughly forty minutes into the film, Uttam is netted in a minor scam, yet the local police miss his true identity. It’s only when the sharp-eyed ACP Chandra Sekhar identifies him and informs the authorities that a torrent of cases closes in. The police tighten the net, subjecting him to torture in a bid to recover the money, but the evidence remains elusive. Uttam takes the opportunity to pull back the curtain and lays out his painful backstory: he hails from a very poor family, with a father who worked as a clerk and a mother who sold flowers. When his father overhears higher officials discussing a scam and tries to warn them, he is fired; a stampede later claims his life, while Uttam’s mother falls into a critical state. A benevolent woman promises to educate him, yet she leaves with a suitcase, and Uttam’s revelation of his hardships is followed by his mother’s death. Grief hardens him, and he decides that cheating greed is the only path to survival. Months pass, and a court’s lack of solid evidence leads to his release, only for his associates to betray him and escape with most of the money. An angry investor brings in the ruthless Pasupathi and his gang to recapture the funds and to kill Uttam. The gang ambushes him outside the court and leaves him beaten. But Uttam turns the situation around, convincing them to mount a grand con valued at a billion rupees and to pay them more than their hirer had offered. He argues that greed makes fools of the greedy, and he even extends the critique to elections, which he says conn humans by promising the moon.

The next move is a trap of his own making: Uttam sets his gang against a victim of a past scheme, Dhana Setty, knowing Dhana Setty will alert the authorities. The plan backfires when the gang is arrested, and Uttam’s betrayal fuels their anger. In the meantime, he returns to [Avani], who stands by him for a time, and they marry. They move to Chikmagalore to start a small nursery, and Uttam begins to see the value of hard-earned money. Avani becomes pregnant, and when the gang is released, they threaten Uttam to orchestrate an even bigger scam and to compensate their losses, or they will kill him and his wife. Uttam agrees, and the gang assigns Basava to keep an eye on the pregnant Avani, while he travels to Bengaluru for one final heist to settle the debt.

The target is Ugrappa Gowda, a wealthy and politically connected marble and granite magnate. The con hinges on the so-called rice-pulling scam, presented as a cure to his personal, financial, and political troubles. The artifact involved is transferred, and the gang pockets a hefty 100 crore rupees. As the money changes hands, a clash erupts, Uttam eliminates the gang, and returns to his wife and child with the windfall.
