American actor and filmmaker, Henry Warren Beatty (né Beaty), was born on March 30, 1937. Beatty's illustrious career spans over six decades during which he received numerous awards including an Academy Award and three Golden Globe Awards. He was recognized with awards like the Irving G. Thalberg Award in 1999, BAFTA Fellowship in 2002, Kennedy Center Honors in 2004, the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2007, and the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2008. He has been nominated 14 times for the Academy Awards, and holds the distinction of being the only person to be nominated for acting, directing, writing, and producing for the same film. Notable in his career are his acting debuts in 'Splendor in the Grass' (1961) and later on roles in 'Bonnie and Clyde' (1967), 'McCabe & Mrs. Miller' (1971), 'Shampoo' (1975). He has also directed and starred in 'Heaven Can Wait' (1978), 'Reds' (1981), 'Dick Tracy' (1990), 'Bugsy' (1991), 'Bulworth' (1998), and 'Rules Don't Apply' (2016).

Beatty was born in Richmond, Virginia and the older brother of actress, dancer, and writer Shirley MacLaine. His desire to become a filmmaker came from his early childhood fascination with movies. He used to accompany his sister to theaters and the experience has deeply influenced his career. He was known for being completely hands-on in his projects, often involving himself in every aspect from the script to the lighting. He played football at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington before establishing himself as a Hollywood star.
