Meg Foster, born on May 10, 1948, is a renowned American film and television actress. She catapulted to fame for her various roles, most notably in the 1979 TV miniseries version of The Scarlet Letter, and films such as Ticket to Heaven, The Osterman Weekend, and They Live. She had the honor of being the first star to play Christine Cagney in the initial season of the acclaimed TV series Cagney & Lacey. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and raised in Rowayton, Connecticut, Foster garnered her acting skills at the esteemed Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York.

Foster's acting career took off in 1968 when she performed in a Cornell Summer Theatre production of John Brown's Body and the off-Broadway production, The Empire Builders. However, her path to stardom wasn't a bed of roses. Notably, when she was replaced by Sharon Gless for the remainder of the Cagney & Lacey series, it was a significant setback.
