New Yorkers Tommy Larson Aeryk Egan and Bill Turner Bo Sharon are best friends who spend their time reading comic books they buy from Mr. Sumatra Julius Harris’s newspaper stand. They face constant bullying from local hoodlums Vinnie Benedetti AJ Damato, Booger Martin Bodhi Elfman, and Podowski Troy Fromin. Tommy has a major crush on Sally Rebecca Herbst, who happens to be Vinnie’s girlfriend, adding a layer of tension to their already hostile world. Vinnie Benedetti works for mob boss Big Moe Meg Foster, who relies on his crew to do the dirty deeds that keep the streets in line.

When newcomer Freddie Thompson Darris Love is bullied by Vinnie and the gang, Tommy’s attempt to stand up to Vinnie proves futile until Mr. Sumatra steps in, and Booger hints that there’s something unusual about the newspaper stand owner. This moment sparks a plan: Tommy, Bill, and Freddie decide to expose Vinnie and the others, hoping to disrupt their power. But Big Moe gets wind of the trio’s scheme and orders Vinnie and his crew to eliminate the three teens.

The three youths are killed in cold blood, and in a startling twist, Mr. Sumatra—revealed to be a voodoo priest—resurrects them as shrunken heads. Each revived head carries a remarkable power: Tommy can emit electricity, Bill becomes a vampire, and Freddie can unleash a switchblade from his mouth. With their new abilities, the trio takes action, turning the tables on their tormentors and aiming to restore safety to their city. Together, they unleash a careful, supernatural form of justice that redefines their neighbors’ sense of security, all while navigating the complexities of friendship, danger, and newfound powers.

The story unfolds with a blend of suspense, supernatural flair, and a grounded sense of high-stakes teen courage, presenting a revenge-driven arc that stays true to its core themes of resilience and community protection. As the trio learns to wield their abilities, their actions ripple through the neighborhood, challenging corruption and offering a hopeful, if uneasy, path toward a safer New York that humans and legends alike can inhabit.
