Julie Adams, born as Betty May Adams on October 17, 1926, was an esteemed American actress, who started her career under the names Betty Adams and Julia Adams. She rose to prominence through her numerous television guest roles. Notably starring in several films during the 1950s, such as Bend of the River (1952), which she shared with James Stewart, and the iconic Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). Additionally, she is recognized for her roles as Paula Denning on the 1980s soap opera Capitol, and Eve Simpson on television series Murder, She Wrote. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Adams lived in several places due to her family's frequent moves, the longest being in Blytheville, Arkansas for eight years. In her early career, Adams worked as a part-time secretary and commenced her film career with B movie Westerns. Her first movie role was a minor part in Red, Hot and Blue (1949). She co-starred with Hollywood's leading men such as James Stewart, Rock Hudson, and Charlton Heston in the 1950s. In 1957, she starred in Four Girls in Town, a romantic comedy, and later in 1965, appeared alongside Elvis Presley in musical comedy Tickle Me. She cherished her time with Elvis, applauding his dedication towards acting. On television, she left her mark in shows like the Andy Griffith Show, Perry Mason, and the Jimmy Stewart Show. Adams continued to guest-star in many popular television series, and was regularly seen on CBS's Murder, She Wrote.
