Matthew Moorhouse, John Martin, is a high school teacher in the small town of Mill Basin. When a heavy metal band named Black Roses arrives to play for three nights, with plans to move on afterward, the town is quietly excited. At first, the conservative parents voice concerns, but their worries are softened by the band’s low-key stage presence and by the mayor’s belief that they pose no real threat. Mayor Farnsworth, Ken Swofford, frames the situation as harmless and the town mostly goes along with the idea that the performances will be nothing out of the ordinary.
As the shows continue, a darker energy begins to emerge. The teens in town drift from normal behavior into aggression and withdrawal, and the atmosphere among families grows tense. The parents start dying in troubling ways—some are murdered, others fall victim to increasingly bizarre accidents—creating a climate of fear and mystery that grips the community.
Matthew’s favorite student Julie becomes entangled in the turmoil in a shocking way: she murders his ex-girlfriend, Priscilla Farnsworth. The violence intensifies the sense that something supernatural is at work, and the line between reality and manipulation blurs as the town spirals toward disaster.
Driven by a need to stop the spread of the band’s influence, Matthew decides to take drastic action. He plans to burn down the performance hall, hoping to halt the trance that seems to grip the teenagers. The band’s leader, Damian, Sal Viviano, pushes back, but Matthew’s resolve carries him forward. The fire is set, and in the chaos, the teens are awakened from whatever trance had taken hold.
What follows is a mix of aftermath and disbelief. The town eventually learns through the news that Black Roses not only survived the blaze, but had recently performed a large concert in New York City and now plan to tour overseas to the United Kingdom. The revelation unsettles Mill Basin, leaving a question of whether the danger they faced was truly contained or merely biding its time for another appearance on a different stage.
