Jet Li: Movies & Box Office

Jet Li, born Li Lianjie on April 26, 1963, is an internationally recognized martial artist, actor, director, and philanthropist hailing from China and now a Singaporean citizen. He began his illustrious journey by training with the esteemed wushu teacher Wu Bin and won his first national championship at the tender age of 11. Between 1974 and 1979, Li secured the title of Men's All-Around National Wushu Champion five times and stepped into stardom in East Asia with his acting debut in martial arts film Shaolin Temple (1982).

His breakthrough came with the Once Upon a Time in China film series (1991–1993) where he embodied the legendary Chinese folk hero Wong Fei-hung. He gained international fame with movies like Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), and Romeo Must Die (2000). In his 40+ years long career, he became a symbol for Chinese cinema and martial arts worldwide. Jet Li, named by Time as one of the 100 Most Influential People in 2010, is also known for his significant contributions to philanthropy, especially his non-profit foundation called The One Foundation.
