Eleanor Bron (born 14 March 1938) is a renowned English stage, film, and television actress, and author. Best known for her roles in the Beatles musical Help! (1965), Alfie (1966), Bedazzled (1967), and Women in Love (1969), Eleanor has also graced television series like Yes Minister, Doctor Who and Absolutely Fabulous. Born into a Jewish family in Stanmore, Middlesex, Bron received her education from the North London Collegiate School and Newnham College, Cambridge, where she studied Modern Languages. Her acting career began with the Cambridge Footlights revue of 1959 which starred Peter Cook. She then went on to act in notable films alongside prominent actors such as Albert Finney, Audrey Hepburn, Sandy Dennis, and Ian McKellen. She equally featured in TV adaptations like Black Beauty (1994), and A Little Princess (1995). From mid-1970s, Bron began collaborating with the Monty Python team, and she made several appearances in the BBC programmes. She has since played in a variety of roles on stage and screen, and her impeccable delivery has led to her providing voice for various British telephone error messages. Lately, she has made appearances in a several advertisement campaigns and TV series, and has even lent her voice to audio drama and radio comedy sketch show.
