Diane Carol Baker, born February 25, 1938, is an American actress, producer, and educator. Her illustrious career in film and television stretched over 50 years. Raised in North Hollywood and Studio City, Los Angeles, Baker's acting journey took a significant turn when she secured a seven-year contract with 20th Century Fox in 1958. Notably, she made her film debut in the 1959 movie 'The Diary of Anne Frank.' She was also a part of 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' and 'The Best of Everything.' Fox films such as the Nine Hours to Rama, Hemingway's Adventures of a Young Man, and The 300 Spartans also feature Baker. Her expansive television work, beginning in the 1960s, includes 'Follow the Sun,' 'Bus Stop,' 'Adventures in Paradise,' and others. After her contract with Fox, she continued her successful run, starring in films such as 'Stolen Hours,' 'The Prize,' and even landing a recurring role on the medical drama 'Dr. Kildare.' Notable collaborations include working with Alfred Hitchcock in his film Marnie and co-starring with Gregory Peck and Walter Matthau in the thriller Mirage. Her later years saw frequent television appearances and a foray into film producing, with successes like Never Never Land and A Woman of Substance. She reappeared on the big screen in The Silence of the Lambs and guest-starred in the popular series 'House'. In addition to her acting career, Baker dedicated over a decade teaching acting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
